About

*Please note: unfortunately I am not currently accepting new therapy clients/referrals, or operating a therapy waitlist, as my books are full (please click here for names of other affirming practitioners). However, I have got occasional availability for WPATH assessments, and I am also available for professional supervision/training. Please email me on hello@lgpsychology.net if seeking a WPATH assessment or supervision/training. Thank you :)

About me: Hi, I’m Lumen (they/them), a clinical psychologist & board-approved supervisor in Naarm (Melbourne). I currently see clients via Telehealth, meaning sessions are accessible from any location. Lumen is my chosen name, so you might also know me by a different name (i.e. name on legal documents & and name I’m registered as a psychologist under; that name is listed at the bottom of this webpage if needed).

I currently work with folks aged 18yrs+ regarding a range of experiences surrounding identity, neurotype, life transitions, and connection with self, body, others, and place in the world. I’m also queer, trans, multiply neurodivergent, and chronically ill, and aspire to provide a safe space for all identities, genders, neurotypes, and bodies.

Areas of work: My areas of expertise include working with LGBTQIA+ community members, neurodivergent folk (especially ADHD, Autism, PDA, 2e), and chronically ill folk, identity/self-view, eating (disorders, differences, and/or difficulties), life changes or transitions, and burnout, alongside mood, stress, anxiety, and general wellbeing.

The services I offer are include:

  • Psychological counselling/therapy for clients

  • WPATH assessment completion for clients

  • ADHD & Autism assessment completion for clients

  • Supervision, consultation, and training for other health professionals and educators (topics of gender, sexuality, neurodivergence, chronic health, disability, and/or eating disorders, differences, and difficulties)

Lumen is in a park, wearing noise-cancelling headphones, a pink shirt, backpack, and their Hidden Disabilities sunflower lanyard. They are doing the peace sign and smiling, cos they're don't know how else to pose.

Therapy approach: My therapeutic style is patient, compassionate, collaborative, warm, and person-focussed, with good humour (/being a bit silly when that’s the vibe) along the way. Accessibility, safety, stimming, and identity unmasking are important and welcome; I aspire to provide a space where your needs and comfort are supported.

Their hair is medium brown, in a shaggy mullet cut with a fringe. They have pink eyeliner, a silver septum piercing, a black choker necklace, and black & pink nailpolish, and are smiling while doing the peace sign, because they don’t really know how else to pose in selfies.

I take a holistic approach to help individuals understand their emotions, thoughts, experiences, values, strengths, and needs, and relationships; build skills for and recover from challenges they are facing; develop greater self-acceptance and insight; move towards their goals; or just talk things out.

To do this, I draws upon various therapies including Affirmative Person-Centred, Counselling, Narrative, Values-Based, and ACT approaches. I work from an intersectional, anti-oppressive, de-pathologising, identity-affirming, trauma-informed, and anti-diet framework, and tailor therapy to each person I see. If this sounds like what you’re after, feel welcome to get in touch - I look forward to hearing from you!

Lumen is wearing a black tshirt, has orange hair in a shaggy mullet cut with a fringe, and is smiling. They are holding one arm up doing the peace sign, and you can see some of their tattoos (a wattlebird, a platypus, and some native plants). Behind them is a pink bookcase with colourful books, trinkets, and a devil’s ivy plant. The walls of their office are decorated with various artworks and posters. If you do Zoom sessions with them, this is a pretty standard setup of what things look like (though their haircolour is subject to change, and their black cat Grimmeow also joins at times).
